We often get asked what types of flooring need anti-slip floor treatments. And there are quite a few ways to answer this. In order to improve the safety of public access areas, there are multiple floor types to which treatments can be applied.

Anti-slip treatments can be effectively used on flooring such as:

  • Tiles – ceramic, vitrified, porcelain, mosaic or quarry tiles
  • Terrazzo
  • Stone – such as marble, granite, limestone, and travertine
  • Reconstituted stone
  • Concrete
  • Brick

There is a lot of speculation when it comes to Anti-Slip Treatments. Being a relatively new concept, it is understandable for people to get nervous. In a nutshell, anti-slip treatments are effectively chemical treatments that change the surface of an unsealed tile on a semi-permanent basis. In layman’s terms, it is the same as the grooves or channels on your tiles that help you drive in wet weather. If you had smooth tires you would aquaplane. The same goes for an untreated floor.
